Pūmotomoto

The doorway from the eleventh heaven into the twelfth, the place where the esoteric knowledge was kept, and the place of Io, was guarded by Tūī. The name of this doorway was called pūmotomoto. This is also the name of the instrument that played into the fontanel of the young to transfer whakapapa, karakia from the elder to the learner.
