About This Piece: In Māori cosmogony all of creation contains the two elements of Ira (the life force). Known as Ira Atua (spirit) and Ira Tangata (physical). By keeping these in balance, harmony is created and maintained. The design on the reverse uses koru shapes to show that balance leads to strong positive growth.
