KAHUKURA, the Red Admiral Butterfly, is the most colourful of the butterflies of Aotearoa. It is also one of the physical forms used by the God, Kahukura Uenuku whose other appearance is the Rainbow.
Kahukura is also the Protector of the Earth Mother. His symbols thus invoke his roles as a powerful protector of the traveller and a Guiding Spirit.
